DEFINITION OF DELAYS OF VEHICLES AT THE ADJUSTABLE INTERSECTION
Abstract
A number of methods to define vehicle delays at the signalized intersection have been analyzed. They allow to improve the technology and to increase the accuracy of measurements.
The features of current methods of defining the parameters of vehicle traffic and criteria for assessing the efficiency of the signalized intersection operation have been revealed. Comparative characteristics of experimental methods to determine delays have been given, the features of control technology and measuring the parameters of traffic flows have been described, and main advantages and disadvantages of their use in automated systems have been analyzed.
The methods of defining transport delays based on multi-beam laser scanning the intersection zone have been considered as advanced technology. The possibility of increasing the accuracy of delay defining on measurements of real values of time intervals of passing the intersection effected zone has been considered. The proposed method and algorithm for determining the parameters of the movement of vehicles in the conditions of a dynamic change in the parameters of the traffic flow with the ability to quickly determine the starting points of acceleration or deceleration of cars on the approaches to the intersection are presented.
A version of the simplified structure of the device for implementing the suggested technique and efficient processing the initial data has been presented; the feasibility and efficiency of algorithms built in the method have been shown.
The prospect of expanding the functionality of the proposed method has been marked by simultaneous defining additional parameters of traffic flows and improving the quality control at the intersection.
