Abstract
In the present article we have considered all basic qualities of public atria, targeted on spatial and functional interaction with urban environment. Atria and urban spaces correlate and interact with one another by means of various environmental connections they have in common. We have researched main types of atrium organization, and discovered basic principles for allocating atrium spaces as a structure-forming element of urban interiors. The choice of scheme or prototype of accommodation depends on the current dynamics of the urban environment or from that, what it should become in the future. The configuration of space have the main priority in the planning of local interior city. In the research was defined "components-magnets" of atrium space, whereby the object of architecture become attractive to citizens.
A space of atrium in the urban environment should foster a communication between people and be as comfortable as possible for the people inside. The research revealed the key characteristics of the atrium space as a means of effective adaptation in the urban environment. Nowadays, the searching of interaction ways of atrium with the urban environment is important task for the architect.
