Abstract

The biological hazards which are associated with the use of biological agents or biopathogens for the committing of terrorist acts were analyzed. There were named groups of the biopathogens that include a considerable number of highly dangerous pathogens, namely bacteria, viruses, rickettsia, prions, microscopic fungi, animal and plant toxins in particular mycotoxins. There were considered as a biological weapon the dangerous pathogens of infectious diseases and especially their penetration into the body of humans and animals. The emphasis was made on the modern scientific developments, which help to get the new highly pathogenic strains of microorganisms that can be used by crackers as a means of biological terrorism. The effects of biological contamination of the environment by biopathogens that can be spread spontaneously or intentionally by terrorists and act as a biological weapon and cause epidemics, epizootics and epiphytotics were investigated. The state system of biological hazards prevention that can be caused by the use of biological pathogenic agents at the territory of Ukraine as subversive or as terrorist attacks was presented.
