DETERMINATION OF THE DISTRIBUTION LAW OF THE CRITERIA OF EFFICIENCY OF INTERNATIONAL CARGO TRANSPORTATION

Abstract

The known criterions of international transportation efficiency do not take into account the probabilistic parameters of the cargo transportation process and its profitability with respect to the turn-around time. To eliminate the disadvantage, the profit of motor transport enterprise per unit of automobile turnaround time was proposed as the criteria. It appeared to be the random variable dependent on the other random time and cost parameters.

The paper presents the results of the study of the influence of random components on the regularity in the distribution of the profit per turnaround time when making international cargo transportation on one-time requests. Taking into account the exponential distribution of the distance of spotting the vehicle for transportation in reverse direction the theoretical background for the distribution of the distance of transportation in reverse direction was developed. To obtain it the origin and destination points were represented in polar coordinate system.

During the research it was determined that the waiting time for the request for return cargo transportation is exponentially distributed. At the same time, the total downtime of the vehicle during the turn-around and the rate for transportation in reverse direction appeared to be gamma distributed. The information base to determine these regularities was the data extracted from one-time requests. The regularities were defined for ten transportation analysis zones on the territory of Commonwealth of Independent States and Europe. In addition to previously determined regularities in other random components of international transportation process, it allowed to determine the distribution function and density function of the profit. They do not coincide with any known distribution. The ways of using the received distribution law are indicated.
