DEMAND FOR SERVICES OF URBAN PASSENGER TRANSPORT WHEN CONDUCTING MASS EVENTS
Abstract
Analysis of the existing guidelines and methods of rendering transport service to mass action participants, including in the cities of Ukraine, hosts of the final part of “Euro-2012” is carried out in the given paper. The experience of holding the events of such significance is a good basis for the development of scientifically based methods of rendering transport service to mass action participants. The statistical data analysis of demand for public conveyance was based on the volumes of departure and arrival at traffic areas of the city, because of all the parameters of demand, this information is the most grounded and reliable. Assessing the impact of mass events on the volumes of transport areas revealed that the characteristics of the demand during the matches of the "Euro-2012" Championship based on the criteria of Fisher, Student and Kokhren vary significantly. It is shown that the criteria presented may be used as qualitative signs of the need for introduction of a special service of large-scale events, for which special transport services is a must. The results obtained allowed to formulate the direction for further research to define the boundary characteristics that determine the feasibility of organizing a special transport service for mass action participants, taking into account the provisions of freight capabilities of the urban public transport.
